Good Times, Great Things at GT Town Center Pavia

GT Town Center Pavia is NOW OPEN!

And it has almost everything one needs - a supermarket, a "Calle Real-inspired "department store, homegrown restaurants and cafes, an appliance store, a medical and diagnostic clinic, fashion and jewelry stores, spa and salons, and government services (SSS, LTO, NBI etc), among others!

"Great Things are going to happen with GT Town Center" opens up Mr. Allan Ryan Tan, VP for Real Estate and Land Development. of GT Town Center during the mall's grand opening last July 19, 2018.

GT Town Center comes from a vision of work, play, and green living spaces. This makes it easier for shoppers from nearby towns and areas to actually just go and get items from the mall.

The shopping center is named in honor the GO-TAN family, parents of Mr. Alfonso Tan, father of Allan, who migrated here from China and raised their family and grew their businesses in Iloilo.

This project is not only a realization of hard work and a dream for the Go-Tan family, but also a testament to the booming development and progress in Iloilo.

THE MALL

The mall features mostly local entrepreneurs, all home grown-Ilonggo businesses, to help and promote the local enterprise.

It was a conscious decision on the part of the GT Town Center Pavia team to make sure most of those who signed up with them were local. It will not compete with foreign brands to assure the public that they will get great finds and treats.

The two-storey mall has two anchor stores - Savemore Market as grocery and I-Buy as a department store/thrift shop inspried by the businesses along Iloilo City's Calle Real.

I-BUY is opening very soon with very affordable products
The ground level features the supermarket (with access to the parking) complemented by various restaurants, cafes, specialty shops and an activity center.

The second level has the department store with the Food Hub - a stylized food court, and a wide bazaar area with a "Greenhills" feel.

The mall will have an adjacent park - trees were not uprooted but preserved and the idea of a Green Town at GT was also followed with the addition of waste management and waste water treatments. This will serve as  seamless connection of the mall to the upcoming GT Town Center Pavia township

THE TOWNSHIP

Backed by the Go-Tan family's core business, International Builders Corporation (IBC), the township will open and house BPOs and business units in the next phase to be followed by vertical residential development - all under the tutelage of the urban planning group, Palafox Associates.

The future project will become one of the showcases of the municipality of Pavia complementing its many housing developments.  Subdivision residents will benefit from the convenience of the proximity of the mall which will cater not only to their daily shopping and business and needs but also give them job opportunities. They no longer have to travel to the city for whatever they need but can now just travel nearby.

The elder Tan, locally known as “Ponso”, the founder and father of IBC, surprised guests when asked about his future plans for GT Malls - the family will open 20 GT malls in the future and that's 18 more to go!

GT Town Center Pavia is located along Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr, Highway, in Brgy. Ungka II, Pavia Iloilo. Mall hours are from 9am to 9pm, daily.

Iloilo Ancestral Houses: The Lizares Mansion in Jaro

One the most elegant reminders of Iloilo's rich and noble past is the imposing Lizares Mansion in Tabuc Suba, Jaro. Situated in an almost 2-hectare lot, this mansion was built in 1937 by Don Emiliano Lizares for his wife Conchita Gamboa. The mansion has three floors, a basement and an attic. It has a winding wooden staircase and big bedrooms with floor and doors made of hardwood. It has 59 doors which indicate the intricacy of its layout.  When World War II broke out, the family left for a safe hiding place in Pototan, Iloilo. The mansion was then used as headquarters of the Japanese army. It was believed that the basement became a dumping ground for tortured Filipinos. After the war, the family went back to live in the mansion, but life was never the same. In 1950, Don Emiliano Lizares died and his widow left for Manila, leasing the mansion to a businessman who turned it into a casino.  The city mayor later ordered that the casino be closed, claimi
