A longer, more beautiful and secure Iloilo River Esplanade



The Iloilo River Esplanade in the City of Love had four new sections inaugurated with Senator Franklin Drilon, the brain behind the linear park, leading the ceremony at Muelle Loney St., Iloilo City.

The new sections stretch from the Diversion Bridge all the way to Muelle Loney right beside Iloilo river.

LONGER ESPLANADE

The Iloilo River Esplanade now total 8.1 kms. with the first phase, 1.2 km. from Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Ave. to Carpenter’s Bridge in Mandurriao district, launched back in August 2012.

Senator Drilon along with Senator Risa Hontiveros and Iloilo local government officials, launched the new sections of the Iloilo River Esplanade last Saturday (July 27, 2019). 

BIKE PATROLS

With more space to cover and secure, Eleven bike patrols of Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) geared up to guard and guide visitors as well as watch over the Esplanade to catch vandals. 

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas initiated the endeavor to ensure public safety and serve as solution to vandalism and stop those who try to destroy the good image of government projects and properties. 

PRIDE OF ILOILO CITY


The longest linear park in the country, dotting the banks of Iloilo River at the heart of the city, connects City Proper, Lapuz, La Paz, Mandurriao and Molo districts. It has become a favorite open space for walking, jogging, bonding or just killing time. 

The Esplanade has been hailed "Haligi ng Dangal" awardee for Best Landscape Architecture by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through the National Committee on Architecture and the Allied Arts.

St. Joseph Chapel at Festive Walk Iloilo's The Deck

While most malls around the country host Sunday masses in some obscure hallway filled with plastic chairs with a makeshift altar, some malls have built niches or transformed unused spaces into places of worship.
