Alaxan launches “Court of Inspiration” in Brgy. Tabuc-Suba, Jaro

“No pain, no gain” goes the popular line that often inspires people that hardship is most often rewarded in the end. The biggest name in relieving pain – ALAXAN, delves even deeper, as it makes it more Filipino with it’s Aray Ko, Galing Ko campaign a few years ago, with no less than the Pambansang Kamao – Manny Pacquiao as the spokesperson.

Now it will go to the grassroots level as it sees the potential to drive social value to the Filipino community with another of the country’s passion – Basketball! Alaxan FR is harnessing the power of the community through the Aray Natin, Galing Natin campaign—a collaborative effort between small-town locals to construct these symbols of community, and turn them into something that moves people to aim for greatness.

In an effort called Project Shooting Star, the brand aims to go around the country and build around 10 Courts of Inspiration to help communities discover potential hoop stars. “To Filipinos, the basketball court is a symbol of the community spirit,” says Kristine Martinez, Alaxan FR Product Director, citing how a people bound by a common love for the game go to the courts not just to hone their skills, but also to bond with the rest of the community. “It’s a cultural icon, one that carries huge social impact,” she stresses.

Driven by the desire to provide their community with its first real basketball court, locals from Barangay Tabuc Suba in Jaro, Iloilo are brought together to build their own “Court of Inspiration” under the campaign.  The first of many “Courts of Inspiration”, the baranggay was chosen based on three categories – a sizeable population (Brgy. Tabuc-Suba had around 14,000 residents); an available lot (the one beside the river was recently donated by a private citizen for this sole purpose); and finally a lot of volunteers as this project also aims to be a record breaker – from a bare lot to a basketball court in just 20 days!

More than Just a Sports Venue

More than just being a location for recreation however, these places serve a bigger social purpose. Be it a council meeting or the barangay singing contest, basketball courts are default venues for holding community events. Is the school year about to end? There’s a good chance that the local public school will hold graduation ceremonies in there. Did a typhoon ravage the neighborhood? Expect the covered court to be turned into an evacuation center. In a sense, the place has become the de facto town square for most communities.

Barangay Tabuc Suba is just the first of many places that Alaxan FR is eyeing for the construction of Courts of Inspiration, according to Martinez. Through these projects, the campaign aims to give people pride in having personally built something that doesn’t just hone their skills, but builds character as well.

“These people’s willingness to jump at the opportunity to serve their community was really impressive,” adds Martinez. “For their noble effort, we’re planning to give them a special treat after the completion of the project. That’s something they should watch out for” she ends.

Alaxan FR contains Ibuprofen (200mg) and Paracetamol (325mg), two of the most widely used and trusted pain relievers by doctors worldwide. It is used for the relief of mild to moderately severe pain of musculoskeletal origin such as myalgia, arthritis, rheumatism, sprain, strain, bursitis, tendonitis, backache and stiff neck, as well as tension headache, dysmenorrhea, toothache and pain after tooth extraction and minor surgical operations.
