Iloilo City disaster preparation and response to Typhoon Agaton

The Iloilo City Government prepared itself well when Typhoon Agaton lashed out certain portions of the Visayas last April 2022. Despite not under any Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal, the city experienced more than the usual rainfall and moderate winds which were both under 24/7 monitoring. On top of all this was the Iloilo City Operations Center under the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office which led overseeing the whole city during the #AgatonPH. The Public Safety and Transportation Management personnel monitored the coastal barangays and secured those in the area. They also conduct river patrol and clean-up (removal of debris which may clog the river) regularly to ensure smooth waterflow especially when there is an upcoming weather disturbance. The CDRRMO-USAR personnel conducted water level monitoring at the Calubihan Bridge where the Dungon Creek flows. Eon Realty breaks ground for the 15-storey Bernwood Centrale

Iloilo's homegrown real estate developer, Eon Realty and Development Corporation, recently unveiled its newest residential project in Iloilo City - Bernwood Centrale, r ising 15-storeys high along Lopez Jaena Street in the historic district of Jaro. This new condominium project will home to some 858 units which includes studio and multi-room units.  Condo amenities include a gym, study hub, play house, function rooms, swimming pool, joging trail and an open garden. Towards a more pet-friendly Iloilo City

  The Iloilo City Government recently conducted a Pet Rabies Vaccination Drive in different baranggays in Iloilo City as part of its continuing efforts in addressing the strays and pet issues in the city. This is partof the on-going efforts that will lead to the establishment of the Iloilo City Dog Pound and Shelter. Recently, Civil Technology Students rendered their On-the-Job Training in the construction of the Iloilo City Dog Pound and Shelters by the Iloilo City Government and City Veterinarian Office situated in Brgy. Calahunan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The students applied their skills in laying block for structure and plastering wall surface on the dog cages.  Another program was the Neutering and Spaying of pets. Originally,the former was slated every Tuesdays and Thursdays while the latter was scheduled every Wednesdays and Fridays.  But the recent implementation of the 4-day Work Week, however, has made the Office of the City Veterinarian to 𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦

SM rolls out Operation Tulong Express for Agaton PH victims in Iloilo, Capiz, Leyte

In the aftermath of the recent Super Typhoon Agaton that swept through Leyte. Samar and Panay Island, SM began to roll out the distribution of Kalinga Packs containing basic food necessities and clean drinking water to affected barangays in Leyte, Iloilo and Capiz.  To date, distribution of rice, canned goods, noodles and water have started in Baybay, Leyte, specifically for the badly affected areas of Brgy. Bunga, Mailhi, Kagumay as well as evacuation centers in Gubang, Higuloan, Kambonggan, Mailhi Sitio Waterfalls and Bunga. Hundred of Kalinga Packs were scheduled for distribution on Easter Sunday and the forthcoming week in other still-waterlogged areas of the province.  In Iloilo, relief goods distribution began April 16 in Barangay Agdahon, Passi City and Zarraga barangays Inagdangan Sur, Poblacion Ilawod, Gines and Libongcogon. In Banate Town, Brgy Libertad, Bariga, Magdalo and Alcayagan and later Brgy. San Miguel and Rizal in Barotac Viejo town. More are on their way to the town

Iloilo Paddlers Club to hold first ever Dragon Boat Clinic at the Iloilo Esplanade

As the city and the rest of the country ease restrictions in a bid to move out of the Covid-19 era, live events are also slowly gaining momentum. One such event, aimed to encourage the recovery and development of water-based sports, particularly the sport of dragon boating, will be held this coming weekend. Paddle Up! Level Up! A Free Dragon Boat Clinic is organized by the Iloilo Paddlers Club (IPAD), the pioneering Dragon Boat Team in the city. The event, in partnership with the Iloilo City Government and Iloilo City Sports Development Division, will be held on April 23-24, 2022. Saturday at 6 AM-10 AM, and Sunday, 3 PM-6 PM, at the Iloilo Esplanade Extension 1 (Skate Park). USWAG Dialysis Center to open in Brgy. San Isidro in Jaro

A s part of Mayor Jerry Treñas' WHEELS for Inclusive Development under HEALTH, t he Iloilo City Government is targeting to open another dialysis center in Brgy. San Isidro, Jaro. "The centerpiece of our administration is public health that is why I made sure the dialysis center project will be realized. This is free dialysis treatment for Ilonggos who need them, and will defray them of at least P4,000 fee per dialysis session” Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said. This project will give free services to residents of the metro who are battling both chronic kidney disease and costly clinic or hospital fees.
