As announced in the Facebook Page of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, the first solar cruise boat in the country will officially open to the public soon.
With a capacity of 40 persons, this flat bottomed and roof boat is among the two boats that will see action on the Iloilo River.
The first one is a donation from the One Meal Foundation and another one (to follow soon) will come from DENR.
These solar river cruise boats is part of the APEC 2015 preparations wherein the beauty of the Iloilo River as well as developments alongside it will be showcased to the delegates.
It is also part of the award-winning redevelopment plan of Iloilo City for the upcoming international summit where Iloilo City topped the APEC Host Cities Category for the 1st Livable Cities Design Challenge a few months ago.
The old slaughterhouse near the Carpenter Bridge in Molo will be demolished to pave the way for the construction a Rivercraft Pavilion which will complement the developments along the Iloilo River. It will greatly boost the tourism potential of the area brought about by the Iloilo River Esplanade.

So come, mid-February 2015, Ilonggos will surely be looking forward to another activity showcasing how life is still a leisure in Iloilo on top the super booming economy it has been experiencing.
