Bike-friendly Parking at SM City Iloilo and other SM Supermalls nationwide

With more and more of us turning to biking as a mode of transportation during the Community Quarantine, SM Supermalls has created bike parking facilities across its malls.

These organized and secure parking zones designated solely for bicycles and SM hopes to make the riding experience safe and convenient for the growing number of bike commuters, especially in communities where SM malls are located. And the good news is that these spaces are currently free of charge.

At SM City Iloilo, bike parking is conveniently located at the entrance of SM Southpoint facing the Diversion Road, where the city bike lane is located.

Another space is located at the perimeter area of the mall near the motorcycle bay. These facilities are up for further improvement to provide more bike-friendly convenience to the users.

To further promote Iloilo as Bike-Friendly City, across the mall is a mural which highlights the bicycle as means of transportation to help ease the traffic flow in the city, to lessen carbon emission and promote healthy life style.

The art is a showcase of the city's desire to be a truly liveable place for all Ilonggos. The project is thru the unified efforts of SM City Iloilo, Mayor Jerry Treñas, Iloilo City Government, Boysen Paints Philippines, Philippine Institute of Architects, Inc. - Iloilo Chapter, and Sigahum Artists Group.

SM Supermalls across the country have ramped up bike-friendly facilities to serve bikers.

For customers who prefer to protect their bikes from the elements, there are covered bike parking areas in SM Aura Premier, The Podium, S Maison, and SM Marikina.

For customers who enjoy the convenience of street-level parking, Mall of Asia, SM By the BAY, SM Megamall, SM BF Paranaque, and SM Olongapo Central are among the malls that offer bike parking areas near the mall’s entrance.

Customers have one less thing to worry about when it comes to bike parking safety with on-duty guards manning and securing bike parking areas at all SM malls.

Other security measures such as at SM City North Edsa require customers to register in a logbook and submit ID in exchange for a bike parking pass as an added layer of security.

With SM’s bike-friendly facilities, customers can look forward to a safe, convenient, and enjoyable biking experience.

Importantly, SM aims to support inclusive mobility. and hopes to encourage more people to take up biking as a healthy and environment-friendly alternative means of transportation beyond the pandemic, which is part of SM’s Green Movement campaign promoting clean, green, sustainable communities.

St. Joseph Chapel at Festive Walk Iloilo's The Deck

While most malls around the country host Sunday masses in some obscure hallway filled with plastic chairs with a makeshift altar, some malls have built niches or transformed unused spaces into places of worship. And Ilonggos should be proud that one of the newest malls in Iloilo City has actually a chapel located in a prime spot and one that boasts both beauty and serenity.  The St. Joseph Chapel at Festive Walk Iloilo is located in one of its al fresco areas known as The Deck located  at the 3rd level. While this open air area also has a mini plaza and dog park (and soon - cafes and restaurants) it is the chapel that highlights this al fresco part of the mall. Eucharistic mass services are held every Sunday at 11am while first Friday masses at 5pm.  It is open to the public everyday for personal moments of silence and solitude. The Deck and everything in it is open from 10am to 10pm with the entrance located betwee...
