Soon to Rise: PhP 400M Iloilo City Legislative Building

The Iloilo City Government has started the construction of a state-of-the-art 8-storey Legislative Building that would be at par with others or even become the best in the country.

Mayor Jerry P. Treรฑas said the state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility and parking space would cost about P400-million. It will be beside the Ker and Co. heritage building behind City Hall.

“What we want is to benchmark at the session hall of Makati so that we will also have a beautiful session hall here. Something that we will be proud of – we will have the best Legislative Building in the whole Philippines,” Treรฑas stressed.

“The walls of this building that will house our legislators will be the witness of the hard work and perseverance of our local government leaders as they craft ordinances and resolutions for the betterment of the city, and generate resources and revenues for the city’s development plans, program objectives, and priorities,” he added.

Mayor Treรฑas suggested that the structure should also be attractive and accessible. A footbridge will connect it to Iloilo City Hall.

The ground floor will host the city’s offices for the public’s convenience. The second to fifth floors will be designated as parking spaces. Each floor will have an area of 1,000 square meters that accommodate 25 cars or a total of 100 cars for all four floors.

The city councilors expect to have bigger offices once they transfer to their new home.

“By providing our legislators a more conducive working environment, we are also entrusting them a big chunk of our city’s future, our children, and our grandchildren’s future, so we can only provide the best for them,” Mayor Treรฑas said.

"The Iloilo City Government is committed to providing quality service for the Ilonggos. And we strive to create a spacious environment for our employees by our project to build an 8-storey building that will house our public officials and for our constituents."
