JCI Regatta kicks-off long-term partnership with Stolt Tankers

Junior Chamber International Regatta (JCI Regatta), a global organization of young active citizens focusing on various community projects officially sealed a long-term partnership with international shipping company Stolt Tankers, for its environmental project.

The said partnership will be focusing on projects in preserving and protecting marine life through various initiatives that will benefit the different communities in Iloilo City.

To kick-off the said partnership, JCI Regatta and Stolt Tankers in coordination with the Iloilo City Government spearheaded a Mangrove Growing Activity on October 2 at the Iloilo River Esplanade.

“We are very excited for this partnership with Stolt Tankers as we gear towards more sustainable projects that will benefit communities that we want to serve,” JCI Regatta 2022 President Raymart Escopel noted.

Stolt Tankers’ partnership with JCI Regatta is part of their advocacy in protecting marine life. In fact, the company’s sustainability advocacy is focused on two UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) namely, Climate Action and Life below Water.

“A sustainable future not only depends on what we do today, but on our plans for tomorrow. We are using our expertise and industry relationships to develop technologies that support the shift to a low-carbon economy,” Stolt-Nielsen Limited Chief Executive Officer Niels G. Stolt-Nielsen noted.

The recently conducted Mangrove Growing Activity was attended by Stolt Tankers Executives, the company’s scholar from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Arevalo, representatives of Iloilo City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and JCI Regatta members.

The long-term partnership between JCI Regatta and Stolt Tankers is also seen to be supported by the local government of Iloilo and other stakeholders. This program will be highlighted with a series of projects and activities that focuses on educating the local coastal communities in Iloilo City on the importance of protecting marine life for a more sustainable environmental impact.
