Roca Encantada in Guimaras

This serene and picturesque view is one of the many reasons why Roca Encantada is among the top tourist attractions in Guimaras.
The summer house of the illustrious Lopez clan of Iloilo is built on a rock that juts out into the sea earning its nickname - the Enchanted Rock.
More than 100 years old now, it was built in 1910 in honor of Dona Presentacion Hofilena Lopez.
It was declared a “Heritage House” in 2002 by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (formerly National Heritage Institute.)
The stairs not only serve as entry way to the house but a perfect backdrop for countless selfies and photo-ops.
But it's the grand balcony of the heritage house that offers the most photogenic views - so better get your cameras and batteries ready.
A perfect place not only to relax after that climb but also to get that picture perfect snapshot.
It offers a picturesque view of the sea (Iloilo Strait) and beach front (Navalas beach/El Retiro).
One can also see the equally enchanting “La Islas de Siete Picados” or the Isles of Seven Sins, from a distance.
But there's no need to repent for all these sins, just enjoy the scene in all its serenity.
Or else you will not forgive yourself, if you missed a perfect spot for a selfie.
Go down the stairs behind the house for a more intimate look at the waters below.
There you'll find lush greeneries and more spots for your selfies and groufies.
You will also appreciate the house's design and architecture more from this angle communing with nature.
With its direct access to the sea below, I assume that the backside used to be (and still is) used a mooring area for the family's boats and yachts.
Roca Encantada is located in Brgy. Navalas in the town of Buenavista which if around 45 minutes from the McArthur/Buenavista wharf.
The wharf is a 15-minute boat ride from Parola in Iloilo City. Upon arriving, transportation can be arranges through the Tourist Assistance Center.
Entrance fee to Roca Encantada is PhP 50/head and one can access the grounds and just the outside of the house since the inside is off-limits to visitors.
Nonetheless, it's always a visit that is worth all the selfies, groufies and photo-ops. And if there's one word that describes the experience, it's ENCHANTING!
