A Night of Music with the Philippine Madrigal Singers at Molo Church

From madrigals to pop-songs, from French &Italian to Ilonggo and Filipino folk songs, it was a musical night to remember as the Philippine Madrigal Singers serenaded Iloilo once again.

With the imposing Molo Church (St. Anne's Parish) as the venue, the night echoed with the voices that made the Philippines proud for more than five decades.

Ilonggo Senator Franklin M. Drilon together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines led by its chairman Rene R. Escalante brought the world-famous choir in Iloilo also for the inauguration of the Museum of Philippine Economic History on the same day.

It was one of the most attended event inside the Molo church as attested by the senator and the crowd filled up the whole nave of the church.

The Philippine Madrigal Singers led by choirmaster Mark Anthony A. Carpio performed a select repertoire including crowd favorites  - Ili, Ili, Tulog Anay and Kruhay!

Pop songs from international stars like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Freddie Mercury (Love of my Life, You've Hurt me) ...

... to local hits popularized by Regine Velasquez,  Sharon Cuneta, The Dawn, and the maestro Ryan Cayabyab captivated the crowd.

Be it sung solo, trio or the whole choir, each piece was well-appreciated!

And when the "More! More! More!" time came, the Philippine Madrigal Singers gave in and performed  an iconic animated song - Circle of Life from the Lion King.

The night ended on a high note and it was another musical experience the Ilonggos will truly cherish!

St. Joseph Chapel at Festive Walk Iloilo's The Deck

While most malls around the country host Sunday masses in some obscure hallway filled with plastic chairs with a makeshift altar, some malls have built niches or transformed unused spaces into places of worship. And Ilonggos should be proud that one of the newest malls in Iloilo City has actually a chapel located in a prime spot and one that boasts both beauty and serenity.  The St. Joseph Chapel at Festive Walk Iloilo is located in one of its al fresco areas known as The Deck located  at the 3rd level. While this open air area also has a mini plaza and dog park (and soon - cafes and restaurants) it is the chapel that highlights this al fresco part of the mall. Eucharistic mass services are held every Sunday at 11am while first Friday masses at 5pm.  It is open to the public everyday for personal moments of silence and solitude. The Deck and everything in it is open from 10am to 10pm with the entrance located betwee...
