On the corner of Gen. Luna and Quezon streets in Iloilo, a familiar signage has been put up today. 7 Eleven's orange-red and green motif is among the most recognizable logos and soon will be part of the Ilonggos way of life. In this press statement taken from Interaksyon, the Philippine operator of the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores plans to double its network to 2,000 in the next three to four years on the back of the country's robust economic growth.

And that includes 25 branches in Iloilo for this year alone according to this statement. "We also look at expanding in different Visayan cities. In Iloilo, we are opening 25 stores this year. We will make sure we will dominate each town and province in the Philippines," Medina said."

The entry of this international chain of convenience stores will certainly make a fierce battle of 24/7 stores in Iloilo as local businessmen also are up for the challenge with Quix! Mart, Go Mart and I-Mart to name a few. The first branch in Iloilo is scheduled to open this coming Wednesday, Jan 22 at 7am.

And I close with this quotation from somewhere out there "This branch of the international chain of convenience store will make 24-hour life in Iloilo easy and convenient!"

UPDATE: Finally IT'S OPEN! I heard they ran out of Slurpee! Hmmm...
