GMA Regional TV all set for Dinagyang Digital 2022 TV airing

GMA Regional TV (RTV) kicks off the new year with a fun yet safe celebration of Dinagyang Festival by airing the “Dinagyang Digital 2022” this January 23, 7 a.m. via its local channel GMA TV 6 Iloilo, with simulcast broadcast on GMA TV 6 Guimaras, GMA TV 5 Roxas, GMA TV 2 Kalibo, and GMA TV 7 Tablas.

In 2021, amid the restrictions and health protocols brought about by the COVID pandemic, the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) and the Iloilo City Government have decided to mount Dinagyang Digital. For the second year in a row, GMA RTV partners with IFFI and the Iloilo City Government to bring to the public the colorful celebration of Dinagyang Festival in the safety of their homes.

The Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. and Iloilo City Government in partnership with GMA RTV will showcase a three-hour TV special that highlights the much-anticipated events of Iloilo’s famous religious and cultural festival, led by the colorful Ati Tribe Street Dancing Competition between different groups around the city. The competition was produced following safety protocols.

Over the years, the Ati Tribe Street Dancing has been the main attraction of the world-famous Dinagyang Festival where groups perform a tableau of folkloric scenarios--through choreographed formations, elaborate props, and remarkable costumes--as they dance to their chanting, loud drumbeats, and indigenous musical instruments. With this year’s theme “Padayon Iloilo Upod kay Señor Santo Niño,” “Dinagyang Digital 2022” highlights Ilonggo values and resiliency in the middle of the global pandemic.

“GMA Network, through GMA RTV, would like to thank the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. and the Iloilo City Government led by Mayor Jerry Treñas, in trusting us once again in the TV airing of “Dinagyang Digital 2022.” Amid the challenges of this global pandemic, our Kapusong Ilonggos remain steadfast in their faith and devotion to Señor Santo Niño–a trait that the rest of us can take inspiration from as we face the new year. Padayon Iloilo Upod kay Señor Santo Niño!” said GMA Regional TV and Synergy First Vice President and Head Oliver Victor Amoroso.

Even prior to the pandemic, GMA Regional TV has been with the Kapuso in the regions in celebrating their various festivals. The pandemic has not deterred GMA RTV in producing shows and projects that cater to Filipinos wherever they may be in the Philippines so that they can stay safe while still enjoying their favorite Kapuso programs and events such as the Dinagyang Festival.

Catch the “Dinagyang Digital 2022” this January 23, 7 a.m. on GMA TV 6 Iloilo, with simulcast broadcast on GMA TV 6 Guimaras, GMA TV 5 Roxas, GMA TV 2 Kalibo, and GMA TV 7 Tablas.
